I can feel the swell Geoff! Thanks!

Thank you for sharing this, Juanita. Your words are a powerful reminder that creativity is not something we have to earn - it’s something we’re born with, even if life teaches us to doubt it.

Your story speaks to something deep: that art isn’t always about technique or perfection, but about confession, courage, and connection. I love that you’ve never apologized for creating - and that you’re now encouraging others to do the same. That’s a gift.

Many people carry quiet wounds from being told they weren’t “the creative type.” But hearing your voice - unapologetic and reflective - helps chip away at that belief. Thank you for showing us that creativity isn’t a destination, it’s a return: to self, to truth, to play, to purpose.

Looking forward to learning more from your journey.

Zari, thank you for this beautiful introduction. Your journey - from stage to studio to stories, and now even into AI - a testament to how art keeps evolving alongside us, never really leaving, just waiting for the right moment to return.

Your words about respect and safety resonate deeply. So many of us carry parts of ourselves quietly for years, waiting for a space that welcomes all of who we are. I’m grateful ArtBridgeCanada could be that space for you - and that you’ve brought your voice, your heritage, and your generosity into it.

I hope one day we do create something together, however far apart we are. Until then, I’m looking forward to hearing more from your world

Sandrine, your words radiate the very spirit ArtBridgeCanada was founded upon - curiosity, generosity, and the power of art to cross not only borders, but hearts and histories.

From the very beginning, your presence has helped us believe that something meaningful can be built from shared intentions and mutual respect. Your willingness to bring your unique perspective, your remarkable talent, and your genuine spirit of exchange is a gift to this community.

Your vision - to blend influences, foster dialogue, co-create across distances, and offer mentorship - is deeply aligned with our mission. We’re eager to support you in any and all of those pursuits. Let’s build those bridges together.

"We are creating right now - so often, true creation happens beneath the surface, in the foundations. It’s not that it goes unseen, but that eyes must open to perceive it. You’ve built an invisible bridge of support, and support knows no distance - neither near nor far. Now that we walk upon this bridge together, we share the duty to nurture it. Here we are, crossing this bridge - sometimes in silence, sometimes in color, sometimes in words.

*I write these words not because they’ve never been said, but because I believe remembrance and repetition carry their own beauty and purpose - half the journey itself. Like a small gift for our efforts to heed Hillary’s words: ‘Artists are like canaries in the coal mine…’ reminding us we too need fresh air. So I thank you in return.
*And yes, I hope one day to create something with you—perhaps in Joyce’s new studio.  :revolving_hearts: :dancer:
*And I wish everyone a wonderful summer. :mountain_biking_woman:

Hello everyone,

I am a landscape painter connecting art and nature one brushstroke at a time.

I am driven by a need to create bridges through my art between humanity and nature. My subjects are the surrounding landscapes I personally experience, captured in oil on canvas or linen over wood and acrylic on gessobord. These works aim to invite viewers to explore the relationship between the fundamental elements of our environment and ourselves. My intention is for viewers to find themselves within these landscapes, filled with curiosity, wonder, discovery, and a desire to survive.

I live on the southwest coast of Canada in a small rural community on (what is now called) Mayne Island between Vancouver and Victoria in British Columbia.

I am currently in the final six month unit to complete a two year part-time Master’s degree in Fine Art online with the Open College of Arts in England. My major theory/research/contextual study paper has been assessed with successful results and I have published a portion of this paper on my website. I am now working on disseminating a new body of work focused on my nature-centric reparative painting practice about the seafloor.

My painting practice began with an adult oil painting class in 1974 when I was just 14 years old. My painting practice lived and developed alongside my other professional work until 2010 when I became a full-time working artist. This journey has had many bumps and successes along the way. I feel like this next passage in my journey might be the most exciting yet!

A pleasure it be here and make your acquaintance!
