Because Yes, It’s December, and Yes, You Should Leave the Studio (Even Virtually)
There’s a special kind of seasonal magic that descends in mid-December:
-
Paint water accidentally swapped with eggnog
-
Glitter in places no glitter should be
-
Deadlines pretending they don’t exist
-
Creative inspiration alternating between “I am unstoppable” and “I will nap forever now”
So before the holidays fully claim you - before tinsel becomes a medium and cookie dough becomes dinner - we invite you back to the place where artists gather, show work, and remember that other humans exist:
SHOW & TELL CAFÉ
Thursday, December 18
Two Seatings: 1:00 PM EST and 7:00 PM EST - Your Choice
Online – Free – Open to All Artists
What’s the Vibe?
✦ Come as you are: paint-splattered, clay-dusted, emotionally attached to your brushes.
✦ Bring whatever you’re working on:
-
a sketch
-
a sculpture no one understands yet
-
the half-finished masterpiece you keep moving around the studio like it’s furniture
-
your “I’m not sure what this is but I like the pink part” canvas
✦ Show it, tell it, love it, question it.
This is where momentum happens - quietly, hilariously, collectively.
Where someone will say, “Oh! That’s interesting, have you tried…?”
and suddenly your whole month makes sense.
Why Now?
Because creative isolation gets very real in December.
Because the dog already knows your entire artistic process and can’t offer new feedback.
Because the canvases are starting to stare back.
Because community is not a luxury - it’s scaffolding.
And because honestly…
you deserve the energy that comes from being around other makers who ‘get it.’
If holiday brain has reduced your vocabulary to “meh,” try this:
In one sentence, what are you working on right now?
Then show us. Even for 10 seconds.
Even if it’s wet.
Even if it’s secretly a gift for someone who will never understand how long it took.
And yes - You Can Just Watch
Lurkers are welcome.
Observers, admirers, curious returners, winter-hibernators.
If you just want to sit with tea and absorb the glow of other people’s creative chaos - lovely.
But we hope you’ll show something too.
Because that’s where the spark is.

Final Nudge
Come share what you’re building.
Or what you’re breaking and rebuilding.
Or what you abandoned last spring and boldly resurrected yesterday.
It all counts. It all belongs.
See you at the easel, the screen, the clay table, the sketch pad -
and inside the Café.
Show. Tell. Be Seen. Exhale.
